Analogue and digital photography have a difference that is rarely featured in discussion: the fact that the optics in digital play a varying role depending on the CCD whereas the optics in analogue functioned predictably irrespective of the film type used. The film (and it’s processing) simply controls elements such as acutance, contrast, tonality and grain.
